Hello everyone! Just found this site while searching for a cure for my condition. I suppose this would be a good place to vent my frustration. Anyone out there with erythrodermic psoriasis?

Hi Msadv,

Firstly, welcome and we are glad that you have found this forum. My name is Dom and I'm the admin here.

Just a few questions so that we can understand your condition better:

a) Is your P erythrodermic psoriasis?
b) Are you seeing a derm?
c) Are you on systemic treatments such as Acitretin or MTX?
d) How long have you had your P?

Please feel free to browse the forum and the many threads. Also feel free to ask questions where other members can jump into to offer their advise and opinions.

Hi Dom. I had dengue haemorrhage fever about two months back. It was really bad that I had to be hospitalised. I have had plaque psoriasis for quite some time. I survived the dengue bout but my P went haywire and I had to be warded again this time at GH since it has gone erythrodermic. I'm on MTX right now with UVB 3 times a week. My P has subsided a bit though I'm still quite red. Just a note for you guys out there...dont forget to continue with your treatment (especially daivonex, topical creams and whatever medication that you are taking no matter how ill you are).

msadv,

Thanks for sharing. Wow... dengue fever. I'm so sorry to hear about this and that your P was activated.

Through sharing at the Psoriasis Association of Malaysia, I've heard of cases where any illness or bites that affects the immune system in a bad way, P can flare like crazy.

So from anecdotal evidence such as your incident of dengue, what I've heard so far include the following that flares P:

Dengue
Cellulitis (skin infection but i.e. has gone systemic - personal experience and was hospitalized too)
Jellyfish (yes! don't go into the water mates!)

Any one want to add more? Perhaps we can make a list and then I will post it somewhere as a guideline .

Another questions msadv, did you have since you have had P? Or did you have plaque first and then only have erythrodermic? What brought on the onset?

Through the Psoriasis Association, I have only met people with PA, plaque and guttate. Perhaps you many want to educate the readers on this forum about ? You can either post here or start a thread in the conventional therapy section.

Yeah - is states in the USA forum that Acitretin/Soriatane is also used for Erythrodermic. In a PM, I am curious to know who your derm is.

As a guideline, I would rather forum members that have anything to discuss about derms through private messaging for now. Due to respect to doctors and specialists as professionals - we must also understand that they have a livelihood and professional reputation. I propose we do not leave derms names on the forums threads out in the open for now - many thanks.

What triggered my P? Got a bad hair perm and my scalp was slightly injured. I think it was caused by the heat and chemicals they were using ( I've been cursing myself for the perm every since). The injury later turned to something similar to a bad case of dandruff. It later spread to the back of my ears, then the arms and then torso. It progressed kinda slow though. I think it took me three years before it was diagnosed as psoriasis.

My P finally progressed to erythrodermic after the dengue bout...i was like 90% covered from head to toe and was flaking like mad...really depressing period i tell you but the docs and nurses kept telling me they have seen worse cases. It has subsided considerably but it is still there. I am ever grateful though that I have a supportive family who has helped me overcome my flaking periods. Life has to go on and we have to be strong though it has its moments.
